Why did Southern Living Magazine name Wilmore and South End in Charlotte one of the best 10 "comeback" neighborhoods in the South? Take a look at the articles, photos, and links on this site and you'll find out! Check out the pages filled with pictures, photo tours, History (did you know parts of Wilmore sit over what was once one of the largest gold mining operations in the country pre-dating the San Francisco gold rush?), and general information about Living in Wilmore and South End. Want some ideas about where to dine? Options for living? Locations of local businesses? We've got you covered! This site has homes currently isted for sale, apartments and homes for rent, and listings of businesses, restaurants, and cafes. Can't find what you are looking for or have additional questions? I not only work in South End, but live in Wilmore and can't agree with Southern Living more. Diverse, Historic, friendly, accessible, and optimistic are just a few words that easily apply to this great district just 6 short blocks to Uptown Charlotte. Located in the shadows of the skyscrapers, along the only light-rail line in the city, and with a fantastic mix of old and new homes, buildings, and businesses this is an urban living lovers dream! Classic craftsman bungalows on tree lined streets that criss-cross the district are the most common type of housing you'll find, but other real estate options are found throughout Wilmore and Southend. Townhomes, condos, flats, and studio lofts are abundant along the Camden Road, Tryon Street, and South Boulevard corridors and scattered within the neighborhood. New townhomes are currently under construction at a couple locations in the area - Southend Towns (now complete) - visit www.NewCondosCharlotte.com for more info on these great low cost options.
Looking for a rental? Grab a bungalow, townhouse, or condo or choose from one of the 5 new high-end apartment complexes along the rail line or one of a handful on either side of South Blvd. These new complexes have added about 2500 new residents to the bustling main corriders in Wilmore and South End bringing with them new galleries, restaurants, and nightclubs to the area.
Nightlife? South End boasts one of the densest entertainment zones in the city with live music venues, sports bars, lounges and nightclubs, fine dining, cafes, and neighborhood "hangouts" all in a 4 square block area. Driving to go out isn't necessary here -- leave the keys at home and hop on a bike or take a short walk for a fantastic night on the town. Want to up the ante? Just hop over to the light-rail stop at East / West or Bland Street for a 5 minute ride to Uptown Charlotte -- Epicentre, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, the Mint / Bechtler / Levine museums -- OK, really everything is right across the bridge!
I hope you enjoy learning about this wonderful neighborhood and Historic urban district that I'm delighted to call home.
